What is a sloth thinking?

A sloth's digestion takes weeks. Leaves are poor fuel, and the slow metabolism that follows is also why it moves a few metres a minute and carries about half the muscle mass of a comparable mammal.
It comes down to the ground roughly once a week, to defecate, and that is the most dangerous thing it does - a large share of sloth predation happens during that one trip.
