What is Peeka?
Peeka is a web app that looks at a photo of an animal and says what they’re probably thinking — two or three sentences, in their voice. Point your camera at an animal, tap once, and read what comes back.
How does it work?
Your photo is read by a vision model (Anthropic’s Claude), which studies the visible evidence — ears, tail, posture, what’s happening in the frame — and writes the animal’s side of the story from it. While it reads, its actual observations stream onto the screen, so the wait is the model looking, not a spinner.
Does it really know what my cat is thinking?
No — nobody knows that, which is rather the point of cats. Peeka reads real body language and real context, then writes an honest, plausible interpretation for entertainment. The observations are genuine; the inner monologue is educated fiction.
Which animals does it work on?
Anything with a heartbeat in the frame. The Library tracks thirty species — pets, farm animals, Australian and North American wildlife — and Peeka will still have a go at animals outside it.
Do I need an account?
No. There’s no account, no sign-up and no app store — Peeka installs straight from this page in a couple of seconds, or runs right in the browser.
How do I install it on my phone?
On Android, and in Chrome or Edge on desktop, tap Install Peeka and accept the prompt. On iPhone, open this page in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. Once installed it launches from your home screen like any other app.
Does it work in my language?
Yes — automatically. Peeka replies in the language your phone or browser is already set to; there’s nothing to pick and no setting to find. And the voice survives the trip: the same dry delivery in French or Japanese as in English, a real translation rather than a word swap.
What happens to my photos?
They stay yours. A photo is sent securely for analysis and the result comes straight back — your history, pets and Library live in your phone’s local storage, not in a cloud account.
