What is a toucan thinking?

It is a radiator. Thermal imaging showed toucans dumping heat through the bill by adjusting blood flow to it - one of the largest thermal windows of any animal, and they shut it down when sleeping.
It is also almost weightless. The bill is a keratin shell over a strut structure that is mostly air, which is how a bird that size can carry something that long and still reach fruit at the end of a thin branch.
