What is a tapir thinking?
Looks assembled from three other animals. All three parts are working perfectly.
A tapir is not a pig and not an anteater - its closest living relatives are horses and rhinos. The snout is a short prehensile trunk it uses to grip leaves and as a snorkel when it goes underwater.
And it goes underwater often. Tapirs walk along riverbeds to feed and to escape jaguars, which is a great deal of use out of a nose.
