What is a jaguar thinking?
Swims by choice, which no other big cat does. Enjoys being the exception.
Jaguars hunt in and around water, taking caimans, turtles and fish, and will cross rivers rather than go around. Most big cats avoid swimming; the jaguar treats it as part of the territory.
The bite is the other outlier. A jaguar has the strongest bite relative to size of any big cat and kills by piercing the skull rather than the throat - which is what it takes to get through a turtle shell or a caiman's head.
