What is a horse thinking?

Has picked a favourite human. Will not be disclosing who.

Horses recognise individual human faces from photographs and remember whether that person was kind or harsh to them months earlier. They also read expression, and respond differently to a photograph of an angry face than a happy one.

They listen as well as look. Horses can match a familiar person's voice to their face, which means being recognised across the paddock is not the horse guessing from your coat.
