Eyesight is poor enough that a rhino may not identify a person standing still at 30 metres. It compensates with excellent hearing - the ears swivel independently - and a very good nose.
The horn is not bone. It is keratin, the same material as your fingernails, compacted into a solid mass, and it will regrow if broken off cleanly.
