What is a ring-tailed lemur thinking?

Sits with both arms out, catching the sun. Considers this a full day of work.

It is thermoregulation and it happens first thing. Lemurs warm up in the morning sun with the thin-furred belly turned toward it, which costs them nothing and saves the energy of shivering.

The tail is a signalling device rather than a grasping one - ring-tails cannot hang by it. Males rub scent onto theirs and waft it at rivals, which is settled as a stink fight rather than a real one.
