What is a red panda thinking?

It is not a panda and not a raccoon. The red panda is the only living member of its own family, Ailuridae, and it had the name first - the giant panda was named after it, for the shared bamboo diet.
Everything about it is built for cold mountain forest: fur on the soles of the feet for wet branches, and a thick tail it wraps around itself as a blanket at altitude.
