Grows the antlers, drops them, grows them again. Nobody asked for the cycle.
Antlers are bone and they are grown from scratch annually - the fastest growing tissue of any mammal, adding up to a couple of centimetres a day in season before the blood supply shuts off and the velvet is shed.
Reindeer are also the only deer where females grow them too, and they keep theirs through winter after the males have dropped theirs - which is a useful thing to know about any sleigh team depicted in December.
