What is a coyote thinking?
Trotting somewhere with great purpose. Won’t say where.
The purposeful trot is real. Coyotes cover big distances on a nightly circuit of a territory, and urban ones have learned the timing of the streets they cross well enough to travel through cities largely unseen.
The howling is worth knowing too, because it misleads. A pair can sound like six or eight animals — the pitch shifts as they call, and it reads as a much larger group than is ever actually out there.
